What Is the Charcoal Boerseep Bar?
Traditional boerseep — beef tallow, water, and sodium hydroxide — with activated charcoal as the fourth ingredient. The charcoal works through adsorption: it attracts and binds to oil, dead skin cells, bacteria, and environmental residue at the pore surface, then lifts them away when rinsed. The tallow base repairs and nourishes while the charcoal purifies — two opposing actions in one bar that balance each other out.

How to Use
- For face — lather between wet hands and apply gently. Leave on for 30 to 60 seconds before rinsing for a deeper cleanse.

- Frequency — daily use is fine for most skin types. For very dry or sensitive skin, alternate with the plain bar.

Sodium Hydroxide
Sodium hydroxide, also known as caustic soda (Afrikaans: seepsoda), is a common ingredient in traditional soap making. It plays a crucial role in the soap making process. It’s a highly alkaline substance that triggers a reaction called saponification when mixed with fats or oils. Without sodium hydroxide, the saponification process wouldn’t occur, and you wouldn’t have soap! Once saponification is complete, the sodium is fully consumed in the reaction and completely safe to use on your skin.
