The starting point for this formula is grass-fed tallow — not as a trend ingredient, but as the most effective base Veld Skin could build from. Its fatty acid composition sits close enough to the skin’s own that it absorbs without resistance, nourishing deeply and holding moisture in a way that takes time to fully appreciate. You notice it hours later, when the skin still feels the same as it did straight after the shower.

The botanical oils each bring something to the way the formula moves and feels. Jojoba is technically a wax ester, which is why it absorbs so cleanly — no residue, no drag. Kalahari melon seed and baobab are both lightweight and fast-absorbing, keeping the texture from sitting heavy despite everything else in the formula. Marula conditions durably, its high oleic acid content working with the tallow’s own profile rather than against it. Mafura butter adds depth and staying power. Sea buckthorn, small in quantity, brings a concentration of carotenoids that supports skin condition over time. Beeswax gives the butter its structure; vitamin E stabilises the formula and keeps the skin in good condition with continued use.

The scent is where this butter becomes itself. Grapefruit, sweet orange, and bergamot are the top notes — each distinct, together producing something more layered than any single citrus would. Benzoin resin and cedarwood sit underneath, adding a warmth that anchors the whole blend and stops it from reading as sharp or fleeting. It is a citrus scent that behaves unexpectedly — it opens fresh and immediate, then slowly settles rather than fading. Apply a small amount after bathing while the skin is still slightly damp, warm it between the palms first, and work it in. The absorption is quick and the finish is light. The scent stays.
