Grass-fed tallow has been used to condition skin for centuries, and the reason it has lasted that long is straightforward: its fatty acid composition — oleic, palmitic, stearic — mirrors what the skin produces on its own. That compatibility is not incidental to how this formula works; it is the foundation of it. The tallow absorbs the way it does because the skin recognises it, and the nourishment it delivers is deep and lasting because of that.

The botanical oils are chosen to work with that foundation rather than alongside it. Marula brings a high oleic acid content that complements the tallow’s own profile, helping the formula condition the skin evenly and hold moisture over time. Jojoba — technically a wax ester rather than an oil — integrates into the skin without leaving residue, which is why the formula absorbs as cleanly as it does despite its richness. Kalahari melon seed and baobab keep the texture from becoming dense during application, their lighter weight balancing what the tallow and mafura butter bring. Mafura butter contributes depth and staying power — the nourishment that is still present hours later. Beeswax gives the formula its structure, and vitamin E supports both the stability of the formula and the condition of the skin over continued use.

The vanilla is infused directly from real beans — slow and unhurried, which is what gives the scent its particular warmth and depth. The small dark flecks sometimes visible in the butter are the beans themselves, carried through the infusion process. Apply a small amount after bathing while the skin is still slightly damp, warm it between the palms first, and work it in. It absorbs fully, leaves no shine, and the warmth of the vanilla stays with it.
